CADETS IN THE HILLS AT LLANBEDR ADVENTURE TRAINING CAMP
Two Air Cadets from 1220 (March) Squadron recently spent a week at the
Air Training Corps National Adventure Training Centre at Llanbedr in
North Wales. Situated on the Coast between Harlech and Barmouth the
centre is ideally placed for activities in Snowdonia. During the week
cadets Alex MacRae and David Woods took part in hill walking, rock
climbing, abseiling, Canoeing, orienteering and a high ropes course.
The week began gently with a training walk on Moel Hebog near Beddgelert,
by the end of the week they successfully climbed Snowdon and were
fortunate to have bright blue skies and amazing views from the top.
In the middle of the week they took part in a high ropes course in
the forest near Betws-y-Coed. This was a test of skill and confidence
with both the March Air Cadets performing well and finishing with smiles
on their faces.
Cadet David Woods said that ‘I wasn’t expecting to climb Snowdon
during the week but was really pleased that we did and that we also did
it in a faster time than planned.’ Alex MacRae said that he really
enjoyed the variety of activities and has made some really good friends
from other parts of the country. |
